The following is archived material.  Refer to your provincial government for more information.

UPDATE: APPLICATIONS FOR THIS PROGRAM ARE NO LONGER BEING ACCEPTED.

The Manitoba Back to Work This Summer Program provides a wage subsidy for small businesses who hire or rehire up to five employees on or after June 1, 2020.

We provide a summary of how the program could help your business below.

What is the Manitoba Back to Work This Summer Program?

The program will pay 50% of your wage costs for up to 10 weeks, between June 1 to August 30.

The program is capped at $5,000 per worker and $25,000 per business.

Your employees can be any age, and you will receive funding for any hire (excluding immediate family members).

All positions are eligible, whether your workers are full-time, part-time or casual, or permanent, contract or seasonal.

The worker may be a previous employee laid-off due to COVID-19, provided they had not been re-hired prior to June 1, 2020, or are a new employee.

You will receive a lump sum once you prove you paid your employees.

Does my business qualify?

The program is open to all private sector employers who are operating in Manitoba as long as you meet the following criteria:

  • Your business must be operating in the Province of Manitoba
  • You must have an active and valid business number, business bank account and e-mail address
  • Your business must be registered and in good standing with the Companies Office (not required for sole proprietors)

Your business must not have received funding support from another government program for the same job position(s). This includes:

If your business is taking advantage of the temporary wage subsidy, you can still apply.

What if I already applied to the Manitoba Summer Student Recovery Jobs Program?

You may receive funding for different positions under both the Manitoba Summer Student Recovery Jobs Program and the Manitoba Back to Work This Summer Program, to a combined maximum of five positions in total.

How do I apply for the Manitoba Back to Work This Summer Program?

You can apply through an online portal. To participate in the program, you must apply on or before August 1, 2020.
